Getting started.
Run Qwentin. Point it at a project. Tell it what to build. These docs cover the parts that aren't obvious.
Step 2
Add your OpenRouter key
Sign up at openrouter.ai, top up with a few dollars of credit, create a key, paste it into Qwentin on first launch. One key unlocks Qwen, DeepSeek, Kimi, and any other model in OpenRouter's catalogue.
Step 3
Open a project
Click New project and point Qwentin at a folder. It reads your files for context.
Step 4
Start building
Describe what you want. Qwentin plans, writes, runs, and iterates, with a live preview beside it.
FAQ
Do I need a paid OpenRouter account? Can I use a free tier?+
You need credit on your OpenRouter account. Free tiers aren't supported because their per-minute rate limits break Qwentin's multi-step autonomous runs partway through. Paid OpenRouter is pay-as-you-go with no subscription, and typical Qwentin sessions cost pennies to a few dollars depending on the model.
Where is my API key stored?+
On macOS, the Keychain. On Linux, the Secret Service (GNOME Keyring or KDE Wallet, whichever your desktop runs). On Windows, an AES-256-GCM encrypted file in your user profile, since I haven't built the Credential Manager bridge yet. Either way, the key never leaves your machine. I never receive it.
Does Qwentin see my project files or chat messages?+
No. Qwentin is local-first. Prompts go from your machine directly to OpenRouter, which routes to whichever model you picked. I'm not a proxy.
Which models does Qwentin work with?+
Qwentin is tuned for the Qwen family but you can switch models from the chat-toolbar picker. Anything OpenRouter offers is available.
What about local models? Ollama?+
Local Ollama is the next feature I want to build. Run Qwen, Llama, or any Ollama model entirely on your hardware. It unlocks at 200 license sales: once the launch clears that, it's what I work on next, full time. Free for every v1.x license holder when it lands.
What is the refund policy?+
14-day, no questions, via Paddle. Email support@paddle.com with your order number.
Will there be a v2?+
Maybe. If it happens, every v1.x update stays free for license holders, and v2 is a discounted upgrade for v1 owners. What you bought keeps working either way.
Who builds Qwentin?+
One developer. Me. No team, no startup, no investors. Buying a license directly funds the next version.
Can't find what you're after? Email support@qwentin.dev. It's just me on the other end.
